Born in Sayre, on April 27, 1947, he was the son of George and LaDora Ennis Johnson. George was a graduate of Towanda High School class of 1965. He was employed by Masonite Corporation in Wysox for 24 years and by the Towanda School District for 10 years as head custodian at the high school. Bill was always ready to help other people. He will be remembered for his whistling, happily everywhere he went.
His family includes his wife of 49 years and love of his life, Gloria Jean Pelton Johnson; children, George W. Johnson Jr. and Lisa (Kevin) Tobbe; grandchildren, Jonathon, George and Geordan; a great-grandchild, Brock; brother, Frank (Connie) Johnson; brother-in-law, Ed Long; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, George and LaDora Johnson; brothers, Gerald and Lee Johnson; sisters, Cathy Jo Long, Alice (James) Pelton, and Patricia (Louis) Myers; a brother-in-law, Floyd Saxon; and a nephew, Wade Butcher.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 pm Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, with a memorial service to follow at 2 pm, at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda.
