George was born April 4, 1931 in Nanticoke, PA son of the late Andrew and Susan (Bakalar) Baron. He was a 1950 graduate of Nanticoke School where he was active in the sports programs. During his high school years he earned varsity letters in football and wrestling.
Following his high school graduation, George entered the military serving with the 967th Armored Detachment during the Korean Conflict. George enrolled at Mansfield University, where he was a member of the varsity football team in his freshman and sophomore years.
While enrolled at Mansfield George met Dolores A. Romania and they were married on June 25, 1955. George graduated Mansfield University in 1957 and was hired to teach and coach at Troy High School. While at Troy, George was varsity line coach for seven years and head wrestling coach for seventeen years. He is best known in the sport of wrestling, where his team compiled a career record of 170 wins, 51 losses and 3 ties. During the 1960’s he established Troy as one of the premier wrestling schools in the northern section of District 4. His teams advanced numerous wrestlers to post-season competition in sectionals, districts and regional tournaments. George served as Athletic Director for the Troy Area School District for twenty plus years. He retired in 1993. George was elected to the District 4 Hall of Fame in 1987. He spent his life dedicated to teaching and coaching at the Troy High School.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years Dolores A. Baron of Troy, a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Brian Sinn of Winter Springs, FL, two sons, George Baron, David Baron both of Troy, his three loving grandchildren, Evan Sinn, Rebecca and Graham Sinn Martin and Kathryn Sinn, several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and former students.
George was predeceased by his parents, and siblings, Andrew, John, Sue, Ann, Thomas and Donald.

George’s memorial service was held December 4 with The Reverend Melinda M. Artman of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sayre, officiating.
Interment with military honors followed in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy.
