
Born June 19, 1930 in Williamsport, Florence, “Flo”, was a daughter of the late Kermit E. and Gladys B. (Grenell) Starr. After graduating from Ralston High School in 1948, Florence studied cosmetology and received her certificate to teach hairdressing. On May 3, 1952, she married Robert D. Reese in Ralston. She and Bob shared 46 wonderful years together and raised seven children before his passing in 1998.
Florence enjoyed being active in her church and community. She was an active member of the Ralston United Methodist Church, especially with the King’s Daughters Class, a Methodist women’s group; The church’s Parsonage Committee and Pastor Parish Relations Committee. She also served as communion steward and held many offices on the church’s board. Florence was a life-member of the Ralston Area Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and was secretary of Ralston High School’s Alumni Assoc.
Surviving are four sons; Steven K. Reese (Melinda Menard) of Madison, WI, David A. Reese (Linda Metzler) of Gainesville, FL, Charles I. Reese of Ralston and Michael (Jane) Reese of Ft, Myers, FL, three daughters; Gale M. (John) Orr of Ralston, Glady (Jay) Perry of Canton and Michele Reese (Larry Moltedo) of Gainesville, FL; a daughter-in-law, A. Michele Reese of Ralston, 11 grandchildren; Kermit and Clayton Reese, Angela Height, Breana Allen, Daniel, Ashly and Christopher Reese, Kayla Sprague, Adam Wufsus, Erin and Evan Perry, eight great grandchildren, three sisters; Joyce (Dale) Reynard of Athens, PA, Constance (Robert) Robbins and Rebekah Boyer all of Ralston, many nieces, nephews neighbors and friends.
In addition to her husband Bob, Florence was predeceased by a sister, Carol Cowing in 2009.
Calling hours were held Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Ralston United Methodist Church, followed by a memorial service officiated by Pastor Ann Overmiller.
Burial will be in Ralston Cemetery at a later date.
