Eleanor was born in Newelltown, Pa. on July 26, 1919.  She was a daughter of the late Bert and Lulu (Saxton) McIlwain.
Eleanor was a life-time member of the Newelltown Methodist Church which was established in 1873. She was proud to be the longest attending member in the church’s history, having attended for 99 years. Eleanor held many church offices and it was there she became interested in a teaching career, when taking charge of the children’s Sunday school classes.

She then taught at Oregon Hill Pa. until 1940 when she married her beloved husband, Carty and became a farmer’s wife. After raising two children, Eleanor went back to college and received more credits and in 1961 started teaching at the Roaring Branch School until its closure. Mrs. Wooster then went to Canton Area Elementary School and taught second grade until retiring in 1983.
Following retirement, Carty and Eleanor bought a motor home and enjoyed traveling and visiting friends.  She was a talented cook and loved family gatherings.  Eleanor was a very social person, helping others and walking with friends were always special times.
Eleanor was a member of the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association, the former Carpenter and Ogdensburg Granges, Union Township Historical Society and of course, her beloved Newelltown Church.
Surviving are her, two children; Dianne (Erwin) Spencer of Roaring Branch and Larry (Janice) Wooster of Gillett, four grandchildren; Angie (Todd) Sargent of Manheim, PA, Kim Smith and Mike (Lori) Wooster all of Gillett and Vicki Spencer of Milton, two great grandchildren; Ashley Sargent and Thomas Smith, a sister; Dorothy Jane Wevadau of Harrisburg; several nieces, nephews, cousins neighbors and dear friends.
Eleanor was predeceased in 2017 by Carleton “Carty” Wooster her husband of 76 years, a grandson, Clinton Spencer in 1986, a sister, Altheda Williams and brother, Theron McIlwain.
Calling hours were 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton.
Her Pastor, Rev. Cecily Eisley, officiated the funeral and committal services Tuesday at noon, followed by burial in Grover Cemetery.
