Picture
Doris L. Stone, 91, former long-time resident of Gleason, was called to her Heavenly home early Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from the Bradford County Manor.       Born May 14, 1926 in Canton, PA, Doris LaRene was the youngest of nine children in the family of the late Anson and Maude (Wilhamein) Page.  On May 16, 1942, she married Carl P. Stone and they made their home on the Stone family dairy farm for many years until retiring in 1974.  Carl and Doris also established a well-known antique business, buying and selling many pieces for over 20-plus years.  They also enjoyed many vacations in Florida. A devout Christian woman, Doris’ faith in the Lord guided her life.  She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Canton and the Ogdensburg Grange No. 293. She also was a kind and engaging person to all she met and was blessed with many friends and good neighbors.  The main focus of Doris’ life was the love she shared with her family.
She was a wonderful cook and baker who enjoyed putting on a big feast of a meal.  During many summers, several of her nephews would stay and help on the farm.   She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, grew large vegetable gardens and canned.  Most recently Doris enjoyed many activities at the Bradford County Manor, especially stick weaving.

Surviving are her children, Janice (Larry) Wooster and Denny (Pat) Stone all of Bentley Creek, Gordie Stone (Val Huntley) of Florida, Gary “Duke” (Shirley) Stone and Marjorie (David) Tillotson all of Canton, 12 grandchildren, 22 grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to Carl, her beloved husband of 58 years, she was predeceased by an infant granddaughter, Tammy Stone, daughter-in-law, Kathy Stone, granddaughter-in-law, Heidi Wooster and eight siblings.
Calling hours are 11 - 12:00 P.M. Thursday, Aug. 17, at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton. Rev. Duane Taylor will officiate the funeral service at noon followed by burial in Beech Flats Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial in Mrs. Stone’s name to Bradford County Manor’s Activity Fund, 15900 Rt. 6, Troy, PA 16947
