Doris was born October 15, 1932 in Canandaigua, NY daughter of the late Ralph & Jessie (Alexander) Robbins. She was a graduate of Troy High School Class of 1950.
She and the late James N. Lyon were married on January 29, 1955 and celebrated 57 years together prior to his passing on July 5, 2012.
Doris was employed by Kennedy Valve in Elmira, NY and later with the family business Lyon Excavating.
She attended the Olde Covert Church and the Sylvania Presbyterian Church. Doris was a member of the Sylvania Ladies Aid, the local Airstream Camping Club where both she and Jim enjoyed their many adventures together. In her spare time she loved cooking, sewing, bowling and could always be found with her canine companions.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Keith) Dewey, Troy, sons, Jerry Lyon, Sylvania, Bradley (Julie) Lyon, Spring Mills; grandchildren, Jenna (Anthony) Close, Troy, Capt. Curtis (Ben) Dewey of Hurlburt Field, FL, Blake Dewey, Troy, Connor Lyon, Troy; great grandchildren, Mason Close and Elizabeth Close, special nephews and niece, David Bartlett Norma (Randy) Spencer, Larry Case; her best friend of 70 years, Rosalie Kingsley, Springfield, several other nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours were held February 4, at the Gerald W. Vickery Funeral and Cremation Service, Inc. Troy, followed by a funeral and committal service with Reverend Ken Marple officiating.
Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy.
