He graduated from S.R.U. High school in 1967 and entered the Air Force. He returned home in 1969 and established a small dairy farm named Maple Hill Farm until 1985.
He then worked for Van Duzen machinery in Wilawana while attending classes at Penn College to become a Methodist pastor. He was a pastor for 19 years serving several charges including Canton, and Hunlock Creek, PA. He retired due to poor health.
Surviving are brother, David Walrat, Milan, Pa.; brother-in-law, Richard Loomis, Dunnesville, Va.; brother, John McDermott, Prescott Valley, AZ.; nephews, Rick (Dolly) Loomis, Dunnesville, Va., Scott (Lydia) Walrath, Milan.; nieces, Sue (Tony) Catino, Manassas. Va. and Melissa (Wayne) Beeman, Milan.
He was predeceased by sister, Patricia Loomis, and sister-in-law, Gail Walrath.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
