David was born on February 19, 1948 in Troy, son of the late Gerald T. and Mary (Simpkins) McKerrow.
He was a 1967 graduate of Troy High School and was a Viet Nam veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal after being wounded in action in Viet Nam.
David worked for Ward La-France until his retirement in 1984 and went on to work for the Troy Area School District in the Janitorial Department until his retirement in 2002. David attended the First Baptist Church of Troy, was a member of the Troy American Legion Post #49 and the Rotary Club of Troy.
He enjoyed walking, gardening, hunting and fishing, bowling in several leagues at Terrace Lanes, and was a member of the United States Bowling Congress.
Surviving are his companion Evelyn Brystol; children: Bonnie (Ray) Bixby, Gillett, and Ken (Katey) McKerrow, Pine City, NY, step children: William (Rebecca) Lloyd, Tustin, MI, and Laura (Timothy) McGlynn, Yardley, PA; grandchildren: Zach Bixby, Logan and Alex McKerrow,; step grandchildren: Reese and Eli Lloyd, Isabel and Madeline McGlynn; sister Linda S. (Richard) Campbell, Zuni, VA, along with his nephews: Nick (Connie) Rathbun and Joseph Campbell, and niece Susan Tatem.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Julia J. (Bogaczyk) McKerrow who passed away on January 22, 2008.
The funeral service to celebrate David’s life was held on Saturday, April 11 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA. with his pastor, Rev. Garry Zuber and Rev. Ozzie Osgood officiating.
Burial followed in Columbia Valley Cemetery with military honors given by the Troy Veterans Honor Squad.
