Clyde A. Applegate, 84, of Columbia Cross Roads, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. He was the loving husband of Jeannette “Jeanne” M. (Hankins) Applegate. The couple married April 25, 1951 and had 64 wonderful years together.
Clyde was born December 29, 1930 in Toms River, NJ, son of the late Alonzo and Iona (Johnson) Applegate. He was a US Navy veteran and belonged to Post #49 Troy American Legion and Post #8675 VFW of Troy.
Clyde was a cabinet maker by trade and was owner/operator of Splinter Place Cabinetry in Toms River, NJ.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Troy and Big Pond Lions Club. Clyde was very active in the Boy Scouts of America as a leader in both his home troop #36 in Toms River, NJ and in Bradford County.
Clyde is survived by his loving wife Jeanne, his son Dennis C. Applegate of St. Augustine, FL, his daughter Theresa (William) Waterhouse of Brick, NJ, his grandchildren: Amanda (Paul) Roberts, Bethany Applegate, Andrew Applegate, Cristin Applegate, and Christian Waterhouse, his great grandchildren: Alex, Imogene, Naomi, Natalee, and Sophia, along with his special friends Debbie Hulslander of Troy, John R. Hopkinson of Toms River, and Liston Pepper of Burlington, PA. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Cynthia Applegate, and his brother Eldon Applegate.
A memorial service is planned at a later date. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorial donations be made in Clyde’s memory to the First United Methodist Church of Troy, 1204 Redington Ave. Troy, PA 16947.
