Cleone Marie was born Aug. 12, 1943, a daughter of the late Robert VanNoy, Madeline “Pat” (Allen) Bellows and stepdaughter of Maxwell Bellows. Cleone was a member of Canton High School’s 1961 graduating class. In earlier years, she worked as a seamstress at Glamorize Company in Williamsport. Cleone and her late husband, Bert, owned and operated the Garden View Motel in Williamsport for several years before retiring in 1994. She was a member of Canton’s American Legion Post 303 and Women of the Moose Lodge 981.
Cleone was blessed with a strong work ethic all her life. She overcame childhood polio with a tenacious spirit and will be remembered as an outgoing and engaging person who told it as she saw it. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Cleone appreciated the beauty of all flowers, gardens, and enjoyed landscaping and design. She also enjoyed traveling.
In addition to Bert, her husband of 37 years who passed away Aug. 6, 2007, Cleone was predeceased by a sister and brothers, Patricia Stage, Robert VanNoy and Jerry Bellows.
In keeping with Cleone’s wishes, a time for celebration of her life was held noon, Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Canton American Legion Pavilion. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in Cleone’s name to the Canton American Legion, 465 Springbrook Dr., Canton, Pa. 17724 or to a charity of one’s choice.
