Born in Elmira on May 14th, 1954, she was the daughter of Aaron and Bessie (Bailey) Quackenbush. Betty was a woman who was well acquainted with hard times and misfortune, from childhood through her adult life, but she never allowed these things to define who she really was. Despite her many hardships Betty stood fast as an independent woman who never let life’s difficulties get to her.
She came to know the Lord and placed her trust in His love. Betty was a member of the Victory Church in Troy almost from the day that it opened. She became an integral part of the congregation, sealed in the bonds of love and Christian fellowship.
Given that her elementary education was somewhat sketchy, Betty enrolled in an adult literacy class, learning to read so that she could draw upon the wisdom and comforting words of her Lord Jesus. Her Holy Bible was never far from her, even during the last fleeting moments of her life on Earth.
Betty is survived by her son, John (& Mary) Everett of Canton, brothers Pat Quackenbush of Waverly, NY, Milton (& Debbie) Quackenbush of California and Ernie (& Tracey) Quackenbush of Towanda, granddaughter Evelyn and grandsons Thomas and John III.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Russell, Aaron J. and Michael Quackenbush.
A celebration of Betty’s life was held Sunday, the 15th during regular morning worship at the Victory Church with Pastor Josh Payne officiating.
Professional services have been entrusted to Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, Inc., 94 N. Center Street, Canton.
