Barbara was born on November 5, 1939 in Bentley Creek, PA daughter of the late Elton and Viva (Ripley) Lewis.
She was an East Smithfield School (SRU) graduate, Class of 1957. She went to work for Woven Label in Troy, and later became a Home Health Aide for Serve (Guthrie) Home Health. Barb was a long time member of the Springfield Baptist Church and served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir, and served on the church’s Missions Committee, even having missionaries stay in her and Warren’s home. She was very active in Child Evangelism of Bradford County and ministered to children at release time at the Springfield Elementary School. She and Warren opened their home to foreign exchange students and had several stay from other countries. Barb was committed to God, her family, and to helping others.
She is survived by her husband Warren; children: Debbie (Kenneth) Blasz, Springfield; David Gustin, Sayre; Diane (Paul) Rhodes, Shippensburg, PA; Dan Gustin, Springfield; and Denise (David) Manley, Springfield; grandchildren: Derek, Jackie, Michelle, Jesse, Ashlee, Jennifer, Melissa, Jonathan, Amanda, Paige, and Eve; 12 great-grandchildren; sister Sally Tomb, Horseheads, NY along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Ethan and David Lewis, and her sister Kathleen Lewis.
Funeral service to honor Barb’s life was held March 18 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Troy, with her pastor, Rev. Daniel Graham and her former pastor Rev. James Crupi of the Elmira Christian Faith Fellowship officiating.
Burial will be private at the convenience of her family in Harkness Cemetery.
