Ardena married Herbert Henry Tyler on April 3, 1938 in the Waverly Baptist Church parsonage and they were blessed with seven children.
In addition to her devoted care of family and home, Dena was employed by the Troy Area School District as a cafeteria worker and teacher’s aide at the Springfield and Troy locations.
She was a member of the Big Pond Methodist Church. She enjoyed all types of music, square dancing, knitting, crocheting and crafts.
Surviving are her children; Floyd (Arlene) Tyler, Lorraine (Del) Resmer, Columbia Cross Roads, Wayne (Vickie) Tyler, Florida, Dale (Kathy) Tyler. Columbia Cross Roads and Paul Tyler, Long Island, NY; 27 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren and 31 great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She lived in the home her grandfather built. Both Ardena and her father Arden, after whom she was named, were born in that house, as were several of her children. She moved from the family farm in 1941, and when her father retired from farming in 1950, Herb and Ardena moved their five children back to the farm. They had two more children and raised their seven children in that house.
She is remembered with love by many whom she met when they were children and who called her "grandma." She was very social and friendly and had a lot of friends. She spent hours working on her family's genealogy. She loved crafts and made gifts for her family. She loved tending her flowers and also watching the birds from her chair at the window.
She still cooked on her old kitchen wood stove, which was the type of stove she learned to cook on, and it heated her kitchen in winter. When you walked through her door you became a member of her family. She was very hospitable and the first thing she would say/ask is "Are you hungry? Would you like some coffee?" She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
In keeping with Mrs. Tyler’s wishes there will be no public services. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Big Pond at a later date. Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility, Canton Chapel is assisting her family with arrangements. Share condolences at www.pepperfuneralhomes.com
