Sharon L. (Wesneski) Robert, age 65 of Gillett, PA passed away on July 9, 2017, peacefully at home. Sharon was born on Nov. 8, 1951 in Tioga County . Sharon was hardworking all her life. She had a great love for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed hunting, trapping and being outside . She was a big Nascar fan. She was employed for 10 years at Woodbrook Assistant Living. Survived by husband Burton of 46 years. Mother of 3 children Cindy Horton of Williamsport, Tim of Gillett, and Scott (Carrie) of Horseheads, NY. She was the grandmother of 7, Nate Horton, Chase Robert, Ian Burnett, Autumn, Matthew, Lukus, Zacharry, Sammuel Robert and 1 foster grand kid. Brothers and sisters are: Robert (Gene) wife Edwina Wesneski, Wesley (Tink) wife Peg Wesneski, Rick Wesneski all of Canton. Vickie (Ted) Reed of Hampton VA. Sandy Bryington of Elmira, NY. and Sherrie Husted of Canton. Sister-in-Law Bonnie (Harry) Crawford. Mother-in-Law Geraldine (Clayton) Crout, Uncle Sonny Kilborn. Katherine Nelson van den Blink, age 82, of Elmira, New York, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on July 6, 2017.
Nelson was born on October 26, 1934 in Elmira, New York, the youngest daughter of the late Edward Allen Mooers and Nellie Welles Mooers. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Welles Mooers Smith and beloved family friend Thelma Steele. She is survived by her husband of 61 years the Reverend Dr. Arie Johannes "Han" van den Blink; children Arie Johannes "Jan" van den Blink (Clare), Sarah Welles van den Blink, Katherine van den Blink Miller (John); granddaughters, Margaret van den Blink Jones (Juan), Elizabeth van den Blink Brockett (Daniel), Emily van den Blink; great-granddaughter Clara Jones; her brother-in-law Leo van den Blink (Marjorie); nieces Sasha van de Water and Kieren van den Blink; nephews Denny Smith (Diane), Ross Smith; niece Robin Moulton (John) and first cousins Prudence Manley, Nelson Welles (Jean), Charles Welles (Lyn), and Bartow Curtis (Marie). Nelson joined The Hilliard Corporation in 1978 as a Director, and was the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Hilliard from 1982 until her retirement in 2010. Under her leadership Hilliard grew significantly and added many new product lines. She was also President of the Hilliard Foundation and guided the foundation's numerous community donations. Ona Lou (Congdon), 75, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at home.
She was born October 5, 1941 to the late Bert and Louise (Tears) Congdon. Ona Lou married John Patterson in 1965 and they shared 22 years together until he passed away October 27, 1987. Together they worked their dairy farm in Checkerville, enjoyed square dancing, their card clubs, weekends at Mormon Lake and traveling. She had visited all 50 states, having seen 35 before she was 6 years old, as well as coast to coast of Canada, Australia, Fiji Islands and Mexico. She enjoyed spending part of her winters in St. Petersburg, FL. Ona also was a 60 year member of Fassett Grange #1567 and an avid fan of Jeff Gordon and country music with Johnny Cash being her favorite. Anthony Passeri, 76, Gillett, PA, and Homosassa, FL, passed away very unexpectedly in Florida on Thursday, June 22, 2017.
Anthony was born on Aug. 28, 1940 in Sayre, the son of the late Louis and Louise (Giombolini) Passeri. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carroll Garrison; children, Julie (Kevin) Comfort, Millerton, PA, Lori (John) DeWitt, Garfield, KY, Annette (Michael) DeLosa, Gillett, Michael (Ginny) Chamberlain, Troy, Judy (David) Johnston, Columbia Cross Roads, Joe (Judi) Chamberlain, Columbia Cross Roads, 11 grandchildren, Travis (Melanie) Scott, Tyler Comfort, Brandi Dorn, Derreck DeWitt, Caitlin DeLosa, Michael DeLosa, Jamie (Natalie) Taylor, Rachal Taylor, Jordan Johnston, Joe (Kelly) Chamberlain, Chad Chamberlain; great grandchildren, Madilynn, Addison, Mallory, Miranda, Madysn, Gunner; sister, Shirley (Marvin) Miller, Sayre; sister-in-law, Jeanne Passeri, Gillett. On the morning of Saturday, July 1st, 2017, David Martin McWilliams of Canton passed away quietly at his residence. He was 62 years of age.
Born November 4th, 1954 in Troy he was the son of Robert H. and Jean (Machmer) McWilliams. Throughout his working life Dave was a teacher of Special Education, and more recently Alternative Education, in Canton, Woodbridge VA and Towanda. His remarkable career spanned four decades and was about to enter its forty-first year of service. Dave was an avid hunter and trapper. He had a great love for the outdoors, especially Armenia Mountain where he was raised. Each day he would walk from his home just north of Canton to Lamb’s Lookout and back. He also was a great lover of sports and coached basketball in Canton, Woodbridge and Towanda. Dave was married to the former Sandy Seelye and together they raised two sons and celebrated 39 years together June 17th of this year. Dave’s positive impact on young people extended beyond those in his classroom. He had a knack for connecting with people of all ages, and a generous heart for helping those less fortunate. Richard Arthur Kennard Jr., 70, of Canton, and formerly of Long Island, NY, passed away July 1, 2017 at the Sayre Health Care Center. Born January 26, 1947 in Amityville, NY, Richard was a son of Richard and Margaret (Eubank) Kennard. He served our country as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Richard was employed as a factory machinist and a mechanic until retiring. He was very proud of his grandchildren, Jacob and Katherine. In addition to his grandchildren, surviving is his sister, Janet (Rosario) Gerbino and a nephew, Ross Gerbino. There will be no public services. Memorial services will be held at the Ward Methodist Church, Saturday, July 1 at 1 p.m. We will celebrate his life with some of Dick’s favorites fudges and desserts afterward to remember his sweet tooth and tell our favorite stories about him.
