Marvin was born June 27, 1925 in Overton Township, Sullivan County. He was the last surviving of 10 children in the family of the late Fred and Harriet (McCarty) Driscoll.
He grew up during the depression years. He proudly served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Okinawa for a year.
On July 27, 1945, he married the former Jule Day. They shared 69 wonderful years together and raised four children before her passing on Jan. 3, 2015.
In earlier years Marvin worked for GTE Sylvania in Towanda before going into the lumber business with brother-in-law, Keith McCarty. Eventually they established and operated the McCarty and Driscoll Lumber Company near Forksville for over 25 years. Marvin also enjoyed dairy farming and raising beef. Love for family always came first in Marvin’s life.
He will be lovingly remembered as a true patriarch of the Driscoll families.
Marvin was an avid outdoorsman and hunter.
Surviving are his children; Dixie (John) Gross, Slatington, Janet (Elmer) Walburn, Canton and Scott (Deborah) Driscoll, Canton; son-in-law, Jon Phillips;13 grandchildren; Julie Gross Hoffman, Patrick Gross, Michael Gross, John Gross, Jaremiah Phillips, Cara Phillips Laudenslager, Krista Phillips Risser, Daniel Preston, Lee Preston, Jay Preston, Brian Driscoll, Laura Driscoll Brennan and Timothy Driscoll; 25 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and several dear friends.
In addition to his wife Jule, he was predeceased by a daughter Jane Driscoll Phillips and nine siblings; Carl, Wayne, Dale, Brice and Rex Driscoll and Marian McCarty, Marguerite Pardoe, Doris Wells and Eloise Brown.
Calling hours were held at Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, Canton and also at the Millview Wesleyan Church. Pastor William Hargenrader officiated the funeral service at 11 A.M.
Burial followed in Bethel Cemetery.
