Aaron David was born on February 15, 1928 in Belfast, PA in Northampton County.
He was one of nine children of the late Robert and Anna (Kale) DeWalt. At a very young age, Aaron began a long career working for Bethlehem Steel and during that time he also served in the U.S. Air Force. In 1970, he and his wife, the former Dorothy Silsdorf, relocated to Bradford County where they ran a dairy for nine years before changing to beef. He retired from farming in 2003. He believed in an honest day’s work and was blessed with a strong work ethic all his life. Aaron was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Towanda. He enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid hunter. Aaron also loved listening to bluegrass music and enjoyed going to concerts.
Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Dorothy; four children, Kurt (Kathy) DeWalt, Millerton, Brenda Ebert, Wellsboro, David DeWalt, Reading and Susan (Scott) Ely, Fairview; six grandchildren, Joshua (Silvia) Ebert, Laura DeWalt, Todd Ebert, Jason Ebert, Bryan DeWalt and Nicholas Ely; five siblings, Sara Ridd, Brockport, NY, Janie Kale of Johnson City, NY, Harold (Merylene) DeWalt, Roseville, Ella Taylor, Macungie and Lucille (Albert) Metzger,Canton, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a sister and two brothers, Anna Bond, Charles DeWalt and Thurman DeWalt.
In keeping with Mr. DeWalt’s wishes, a private viewing and funeral service will be held at the Pepper Funeral Home, Canton with Pastor Jira Alberf officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Flats Cemetery, Canton Township.
