Born in Leolyn on November 10, 1932, Arthur Henry Barnes was a son of the late Edna Jane (Hulburt) and Stephen Barnes, Sr.
He was the husband of the former Thelma Moyer. Art’s family and grandchildren’s lives were very important to him.
He was a “Jack of all trades” type person. A McNett Township Supervisor for many years, he also was very interested in nature and the outdoors.
Art enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting many types of tree pollen for medicinal benefits.
Surviving are his wife Thelma; children, Carol Edwards, Canton, Kevin (Melody) Barnes, Roaring Branch and Barb (Butch) Wojcik, Covington; twelve grandchildren, Michael Egli Jr, Joseph Meuse III, Melissa Meuse, Gena Burns, Sarah (Dane) Gross, Brianne Holmes, Noah and Michael Wojcik, Kevin (Bobbi) Barnes II, Kyle, John and Tristen Barnes; nine great grandchildren, Joseph Meuse IV, Ryan and Emily Burns, Logan and Madeline Holmes, Dylan, Alyssa, Blake and McKenna Barnes; brother, Stephen Barnes Jr., many nieces, nephews and cousins
He was predeceased by four siblings, Christine Saunders, Frances Ruppert, Elwin Barnes and Lawrence Barnes.
Rev. Duane Taylor officiated a memorial service Oct. 16, at Pepper Funeral Home, Canton.
