Patricia “Pat” Hartford, 81, Alba, passed away at home while surrounded by loved ones early Tuesday morning, July 24, 2018.
Born June 12, 1937 in Troy, PA, Patricia Ann was one of five children of the late Earl and Ethel (Bailey) May. She married Dale R. Hartford on Aug. 13, 1955, in Troy. They shared 48 years together before his passing on April 17, 2004. Caring for family and home came first in Pat’s life. She always looked forward to spending time with her children and she cherished her grandchildren. She enjoyed several hobbies, especially camping with Dale, fishing and tending her flower beds and vegetable gardens. Pat was a big fan of her family’s participation in local demolition derbies and will be lovingly remembered for her special kiss on the cheek, “for luck”. She also was very talented with crocheting and made beautiful blankets for loved ones. Rose (Haungs) Harely, 78, Troy, passed away on July 19, 2018. She was born into the Mohawk Nation on the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve, Ontario, Canada.
A Master in the art of beadwork, she has over the years taught so many this beautiful technique so it would not be a lost art. Known to all as “Dota” (native word meaning Elder/grandmother), a woman with a beautiful and loving spirit who will be missed and loved by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband Charlie (2008). She is survived by children Deborah (David) Fogleman, Sandra (Richard) Pilling, Kenneth (Tracy) Haungs, Robert (Nicole) Harley and Karen (Ralph) Sorrentino; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. John Stapler Hollister, Jr, passed away on June 10, 2018 in Clark, Colorado.He was born on February 14, 1944 in Trenton, NJ, the eldest son of John "Jack" Hollister and Hannah Thomas Hollister.
John attended the Quaker High School, George School and then earned a BA in English at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH. A true son of the wind, he experimented with careers in law enforcement, the United States Air Force, commercial real estate, and the Philadelphia Development Corporation, before ultimately earning his juris doctorate from Temple Law School. Jonathan Mark Hurlburt, 59, Canton, PA passed away very unexpectedly on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Hospital, York, PA. Jon was born April 19, 1959 in Blossburg, PA, a son of Barbara J. (Burgess) Sentyz of Troy. He served with the U.S. Army during Operation Golden Phesant in Hondauras. Employed as a truck driver, Jon always believed in hard work to achieve his goals. His grandchildren were the light of his life. Jon will be forever remembered for his truthful, honorable nature and a heart of gold. He enjoyed riding motorcycle. In earlier years he excelled in short track racing. In addition to his mother Barb, surviving are his children: Michelle (Thomas) Swingle, Canton, Dillan Hurlburt and Jeremy Schweighart both of Waverly, NY; four grandchildren, Devin, Kayden, Kaleigh and Mahliya; sister, Ginny (Michael) Chamberlain, Troy; uncle, Bill (Jane) Burgess, Canton and a niece and nephew. Eileen Norton Henry, 85, of Shunk, passed away suddenly on June 3, 2018. She was born March 9, 1933, a daughter of the late Harvey and Rachel Norton. She was married to the late Miles Henry. The burial will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Barbours Cemetery with refreshments at Endless Winds Volunteer Fire Company in Shunk from 2:30 pm to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Endless Winds Volunteer Fire Company, 9721 Rt. 154, Unit 1, Shunk, PA 17768 Patricia “Patty” Ann Haverly, age 60, tragically passed away near her home in Camptown, PA, on May 31, 2018. Patty was born on April 8, 1958 in Towanda, the daughter of the late John S. Boyanowski and Ruby L. Anderson Boyanowski of Camptown. She grew up and lived in Camptown her entire life. She was a graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School with the Class of 1976. Patty retired from DuPont in Towanda, where she worked as a lab technician for over 30 years.
She enjoyed reading, knitting, and crocheting. Patty took great pride in keeping her home looking beautiful inside and especially outside, where she loved to tend to her garden of gorgeous plants and flowers. Most of all Patty loved to spend time with her granddaughter, Isabella and the rest of her family. She will be deeply missed by her family and loved ones. Betty Jean (Stanton) Haven, 88, of Dallas, Luzerne Co., passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in her home. She was the wife of the late Glenn R. Haven.
Born in Troy, Bradford County, December 26, 1929, Betty was the daughter of the late Joseph Stanton and Elizabeth (Monroe) Kline. She was employed at the Child Development Council in Wilkes Barre for many years before retiring. The family wishes to acknowledge her dedicated caregivers. Survivors are daughter, Linda J. Richards of Dallas, PA; granddaughter, Kirby J. Kurtz and her husband, Nicholas of Schnecksville; great granddaughter, Taran J. Kurtz; sister-in-law, Doris Haven of Bradford County; companion of 30 years, Albert McClure and his extended family with whom he resided A private graveside service will be held at Card Cemetery, Troy, PA.
