ALBA — The May 10 Alba Borough Council meeting was held at 6 p.m. in the Alba Church. Up for discussion was progress reports regarding several ongoing initiatives.
PennDOT has informed the borough that it will need to conduct a sound study to ascertain the necessity of the borough’s desired engine brake signs.
Mayor Dale Palmer expressed optimism that the study would yield good results, stating “Alba sits in a valley with downward gradients from all sides. It’s an obvious sound trap.”
Also in PennDOT news, the borough was given permission to set up electronic speed tracking signs and was provided with a list of state-approved sign makers. A mobile sign may end up costing around $2,500.
The council moved to have a new street light installed near the bottom of Cemetery Street. Dale Palmer volunteered his land as host for the pole.
Palmer also reported that he talked with the mail carrier and residents look forward to less sorting errors in the future.
