Morgan Champaign of Grover Emily Roy of Gillett, pre-pharmacy. Southeast Missouri State University has announced its summer 2015 Dean's List.
Beverly Unruh of Roaring Branch, has been named to the list for academic achievement during the summer 2015 session. Students named to the list earned at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and completed at least six degree credit hours during the summer session. Christopher Kerns, 53, Linden PA, was killed when the Dodge Caravan he was driving went out of control on a curve and left the roadbed of Route 14 near its intersection with Leonards Road.
The accident occurred at about 7:30 am on July 16 as Mr. Kerns, a PennDOT employee, was driving the van carrying four other PennDOT employees to the Drivers License Center in Monroeton which they had been scheduled to staff that day. Ten local Girl Scouts were recently recognized for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award during a Young Women of Distinction ceremony at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva on Saturday.
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest achievement girls can earn in Girl Scouting. This award challenges girls to change the world – or at least their corner of it – and be eligible for college scholarships. In order to earn the award girls participate in activities of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, and spend 80 hours working on a community service project that has a sustainable impact on their communities.
