Leroy Heritage Museum Acquires Victorian Era Hotel; Kicks Off Fundraising Campaign For Expansion10/29/2015
LeRoy Heritage Museum is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of an important property along Route 414 in the center of LeRoy, PA, which includes a Victorian era hotel. The organization will use the property as the site of its new museum while its current museum will become a research library and local history programming space.

The LeRoy Township Supervisors held their September meeting with Chairman Mike Miosi, Supervisors Ted Tomlinson and Jason Krise, and Road Foreman Butch May.
Two guests were Kristin Pepper, Dirt & Gravel Roads Specialist with the Bradford County Conservation District and Chris Insinger of Insinger Quarry in Sullivan County. The minutes of the August meeting were accepted with two corrections. The resignation of Auditor John Brenchley was accepted. He has moved out of the township. The elections bureau has stated that Mr. Brenchley's name will appear on the November ballot for the new term as auditor, so he will have to decline the office if he wins the position. The Treasurer's Report was approved with these balances: Jumbo CD, $201,651.13; Impact Fee, $272,524.11; State Fund, $40,472.50; General Fund Checking, $83,537.82; General Fund Debit, $1,099.01; Lilley Hill Account, $53,687.50. The Kidz JAM (Jesus and Me) program at LeRoy Independent Baptist Church meets every Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 pm.

The Monogram is a semi-annual full-color publication that contains 24 pages of local history, photographs, museum news, recent additions to the museum and research library collection and much more.
This issue features memories of the LeRoy Consolidated School submitted by 32 former school students covering over four decades. The material was collected by the museum, beginning in 2002, and some of the people who contributed are now deceased. Additional stories written by former students were also used along with photographs. A $743,000 culvert replacement project on Route 414 near the intersection of Jennings Road (T-318) in Leroy Township, Bradford County, is scheduled to start on Monday, July 27.
The existing corrugated metal pipe culvert over a tributary to Towanda Creek was built in 1963 and is classified as structurally deficient. LeRoy Old Home Day will start off with a 5k run on Saturday July 4th. Registration will be from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. with the race starting at 9:30. You can register by calling Race Manager, Ron Kirby at 570-364-5293 or on Facebook registration: LeRoy Old Home Day 5K Race. Pre-registered cost is $15.00 and day of race is $20.00. There will be a free tee-shirt for the first 50 registered runners.

LeRoy Heritage Museum is pleased to announce its season opening on Saturday, May 23, 2015. Regular hours continue throughout the summer on Saturdays from 1 to 4 pm until Labor Day.
Visitors at the museum this year are in for a treat with additions of new exhibits and improvements in lighting. The largest change made this year is the addition of a 12-foot wide and 8-foot tall Canton exhibit featuring famous residents such as actors, actresses, circus professionals, and a competitive roller skater. A harness, bicycle and other equipment used by Butch Brann and Amelia "Mil" LaPell Brann in their "perch act" is on display along with hats worn by famous little person, Casper Weis, and a hair brush that belonged to his wife Mab. Other belongings of the Weis’ are also on display. Roller skates and other items belonging to Frank Snell, a competitive roller skater from Canton, are in the exhibit. On April 25 members of the LeRoy Heritage Museum (above) enjoyed an educational tour of the Carbon Run area, and learned about some of the history of the area some events that occurred there, some notable people who lived or worked on the mountain, and about the coal and lumber industries, as well as enjoying the natural beauty of the area.
