Drachman has combined musical talent with artistic vision to create a rich and varied career. Mr. Drachman spends much of his time performing recitals, concerts and chamber music in the United States and abroad. As Artistic Director of The Piatigorsky Foundation, he has become one of this country’s most respected authorities on the presentation of live classical music to diverse audiences. The Foundation’s mission is to make live classical music a part of the fabric of everyday life for underserved communities throughout the United States. The organization is named for Mr. Drachman’s grandfather, cellist Gregor Piatigorsky.
Piatigorsky Foundation Concert, November 12th Cellist Evan Drachman, Founder and Artistic Director of The Piatigorsky Foundation, will be returning to the Rialto Theatre on November 12th at 7:00 PM. Drachman played at the Rialto Theatre with the Piatigorsky Foundation in 2007. Tickets for this event are $5.00. The Piatigorsky Foundation is dedicated to bringing music to rural and underserved areas for little or no cost. The $5.00 ticket price will go directly to defray the travel and housing costs of the two performers (Drachman and his accompanist). Ticket sales are now underway for the upcoming 2015-16 “Thursdays at the Rialto” concert series. The series opens with Devon Franks, a very fired up, ready to rock, country boy from Northern Pennsylvania on September 17, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Devon has shared the stage with Lee Brice, Dierks Bentley, The Cadillac 3 and legend Travis Tritt!
October 15, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. will feature an Ithaca based vintage swing, jazz group - Zing-ology. This quartet will also feature several dance performances too. Greg Conlon, vocalist is grounded by pianist, John Chapman, Brian Keeler on guitar and Jason Violette on stand up bass. This group will bring amazing renditions of classic dance tunes. Have you heard about this unique fund raiser being done by the Rialto Theatre Advisory Committee? The committee launched the fund raiser on May 23, 2015. The idea is to make a donation to the Rialto Theatre by donating the corresponding dollar amount that is on each envelope, from $1 to $144. To date we have had many envelopes taken and money brought back. The Rialto has collected almost $1000.00 and wishes to thank each and every person who has donated to the fund raiser.
The Rialto Theatre showed Disney’s new live action Cinderella movie on April 24th -April 27th. The theatre promoted the showing by offering special promotions and prizes. The theatre’s combo tray, that usually includes a small popcorn, soda and candy, also included a free tiara. Select combo trays also had a hidden sticker that entitled the winner to an additional prize. Prizes included free movie tickets, free popcorn or a golden ticket.
