During the weekly meeting of the Troy Rotary Club, one of the most important items on the agenda was the awarding of the Tink Crandall Sportsmanship award. This year the winner was Ryder Lathrop from Millerton. Ryder is a seventh grade student in the Troy School District. Presenting the award was Rob Storch, chairman of the commmittee. He gave a brief biography of Mr. Crandall, noting that he was heavily involved in the sports community and loved to watch any and all sports. Mr. Storch also reminiscenced about times he and "Tink" enjoyed and how active Mr. Crandall was in the Troy Rotary.

Farmers, consumers, restaurants, caterers, producers and local crafters are invited to participate in the 1st annual “Taste of the Endless Mountains” event to be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 10 am til 2 pm at the Troy Sale Barn located in Troy, PA. The Bradford County Ag Coalition, Bradford County Conservation District, Endless Mountains Heritage Region and Mt. Pisgah State Park are developing this event to showcase locally produced food and locally prepared dishes—along with the historical value of the Troy Sale Barn. Area farmers, restaurants, caterers, crafters and producers will be setting up tables in the Troy Sale Barn to showcase their products—consumers will have a chance to meet their farmer and sample their goods—and purchase items to take home. Door prizes will be awarded—bring the whole family, sample some tasty treats, stock your pantry for the upcoming winter and get a start on your holiday shopping. The Canton Civic Club Annual Halloween Parade will be held on Saturday, October 25 at 5:00 p.m. The theme is “the History of Canton” (relating to the 150th Anniversary of Canton Borough, 60th Anniversary of the War Memorial Pool and 75th Anniversary of Gone with the Wind which featured Harry Davenport).
The Canton Fire Department Board of Directors held its October meeting with Fire Chief J. Scott May, Deputy Chief George Jennings, Assistant Chief Ray Miller, Trustee Carl Hartford, President Rich Bardo, Secretary Sherry Miller, Treasurer Jodie Bardo and municipal representatives Darryl Jannone, Ed Sheaffer, Marvin Woodward and Mark McMurray. The minutes of the August meeting were approved and $14,699.28 in paid invoices were approved for payment, including audit fees of $1,225 to Don White and $2,687.91 for repairs to the lean-to equipment shed attached to the fire station.
