CANTON, TROY — Next weekend will be a busy one for the Canton and Troy communities.
Thanksgiving is Thursday, Nov. 25.
After Thanksgiving, both Canton and Troy will dive into some holiday traditions that both towns have celebrated for years.
Troy
Troy will host Hometown Christmas this year, thanks to the Troy Chamber of Commerce.
New this year, the Chamber is hosting Christmas tree lighting and Christmas Caroling at the Troy Borough Hall at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, Nov. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Santa will be available for pictures at First Citizens Community Bank for a donation, a Santa letter collection from the Boy Scouts and vendors at the Troy Vet’s Club. Vendors include wreaths, art, soap, crafts, clothing and more. The Troy Legion Auxiliary will be serving lunch.
The Troy Sale Barn is also hosting vendors for the event as well, from 9 a.m, to 2 p.m. There will be crafts, food and more.
Canton
The Canton Area
Chamber of Commerce is also hosting an event Friday evening, their annual Light Night. For light night, there will be hot cocoa, caroling at 5:30 p.m. and Santa meet and greet in the new chamber of commerce building on Main Street next to the park.
There will be a live nativity set up by the ministerium.
For Small Business Saturday, the Chamber building will be open to the public. There, as well as the Rialto Theatre, you can purchase tickets for their event on Dec. 11, The Polar Express Adventure! This day only, you can purchase special ticket pricing, buy three get one for free! There will also be someone selling tickets at one of the vendor events in Troy this day.
The Rialto will also host The Grinch movie (animation) with two showings at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. this day only.
Raffle tickets for the chamber’s annual raffle will go on sale. Monday, Dec. 27, the winners of the raffle will be drawn.
The Polar Express Adventure will be showing at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11. Tickets are $10. There will be a Hot Chocolate Bar and Christmas Cookies available and participants may wear their favorite Christmas PJs! Event is sponsored by The Friends of The Rialto and The Family of Jack and Judy Callahan.
