ALBA — The Alba Borough Council met on Nov. 8 to discuss unfinished business and the upcoming 2022 budget.
Under unfinished business was the electronic speed sign. Mayor Dale Palmer and Steve Bastion have set up seven breakaway posts at different parts of the borough to facilitate moving the new electronic speed sign to different locations to help encourage drivers to slow down through the borough and to collect data from a variety of areas.
They also installed a new 35 mph speed limit sign along the northbound lane of Route 14. Bastion has also received a link to video instructions on operating the sign and asked that other members of the council watch it with him to facilitate broad ability to work on the sign.
In reference to last month’s concerns surrounding vandalism at the borough park, Steve Bastion acquired and installed multiple LED motion lights at the park that are solar powered for night security. Bastion also is acquiring trail cameras to be installed at the park to catch any misconduct on the premises.
The borough received a letter from UGI regarding the conditions of a resident’s gas hookup. UGI informed the borough they had red tagged the resident’s appliance stating “the red tag indicates a clear threat and the appliance should not be used under any circumstances until repaired.”
Lastly, Treasurer Tricia Jackson has finished the 2022 budget proposal. The borough will advertise its availability to the public in editions of the Canton Independent/Sentinel in preparation of voting to accept or alter it at the next meeting Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Alba Church.
