Troy Borough Council held its November meeting with President Krystle Bristol and Councilors Veronica Seymour, Jason Hodlofski, Jim Warn, Mark Colton and Jenn Malehorn, Manager Dan Close, Police Officer Michael Northup, and an audience of eleven.

The Troy Thursday Study Club met on November 20th at the Troy Vet’s Club with 25 members present. The group enjoyed a time of conversation followed a delicious buffet meal prepared by the Vet’s Club ladies.
Our program this month was presented by the Troy High School Marching Band. The band director, Mr. Schwanger, shared some upcoming musical events and asked for club member requests from a list of selections he handed out. After several upbeat songs including a line dance by some club members, the band members departed to return to their classes. The Club expressed their appreciation to Mr. Schwanger and the band members for their musical presentation. The McNett Township Board of Supervisors held its November meeting with Chairman Terry Stahl, Supervisors Terry Stahl and Tim Crays, Secretary Donna McKnight, Road Foreman Bob Guthrie and Tom Close and Michelle Barrett from MC Insurance.
The October minutes were approved and the Treasurer's Report approved with these balances: General Fund, $65,313.63; State Liquid Fuels, $2,817.86; Act 13/ Impact Fee $ 29,401.55; Capital Reserve, $4,136.79; Sinking Fund, $8,582.99; Fire Fund, $ 2,726.86; School House CD; $549.95 The Grader Loan balance is $92,052.84 and the 2008 USDA Grant balance is $31,538.43. Members of the Canton Garden Club picked a beautiful and warm Monday morning to make the barrels in downtown business area of Canton ready for the holidays, especially Small Business Saturday. Placing the greens and wooden stars in the barrel were LaVonne McNett, Dot Hopkins, Beverly Wright, and Marie Harkness. Other members also helped.
The Canton Foundation awarded a grant to the Canton Community Center for new carpet and carpet runners. John Brenchley presented the check to Karen Robertson of the center board of directors. The LeRoy Township board of supervisors held its November meeting with Chairman Ted Tomlinson and Supervisors Jason Krise and Mike Miosi, Road Foreman, Butch May, Ira Haire and Joe & Sandy Doherty of the Bradford County Veterans Memorial Park Association.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. Garry Zuber with the Troy Area Food Bank accepts a check in the amount of $2,000 from Wendy Youmans, Stakeholder Relations Coordinator with Talisman Energy USA Inc. Talisman Energy USA is committed to making contributions to local organizations such as the Troy Area Food Bank in order to support the communities in which the company operates through their Good Neighbor Program. The Troy Area Food Pantry is temporarily located behind the Troy Large Animal Vet Clinic south of Troy. The Pantry is open on Thursdays (except holidays) from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm for families residing in the Troy School District, and who meet the income criteria. New clients will be asked to sign up and show proof of residence within the Troy School District. Phone number is 570-529-0020. The Canton Foundation awarded grants to Canton Borough for sports equipment for the Canton War Memorial Pool and to the Canton Civic Club for the Halloween Parade. John Brenchley of the Canton Foundation presented the checks to Amy Seeley. "The Circuit Writer," with basis in the Austinville Union Church and The Olde Covert Church, announce the completion of its ninth book entitled "101 Facts For Faith". The book, written by Rev. Kenneth Marple, area columnist and author provides an indepth overview of practical reasons and logical support for Christian Faith.
Author, Rev. Kenneth Marple, has determined that his newest book, "101 Facts for Faith," will be available on a donation basis only , with all proceeds going directly to our friends at World Vision to assist in their fight against the causes of childhood poverty and injustice. The suggested donation is $10.00. All publishing costs have been covered by "Friends of The Circuit Writer." Over the past four years, including multiplying funds and grants made available through our partners at World Vision, Circuit Writer Books a have generated $184,850 to help kids all over the world in the fight against poverty, hunger, and disease.
