CANTON — Canton’s Amanda Carreon will provide mommy information once a month via The Homepage Network and Vogt Media in her new show, Momday Monday.
Carreon’s first guest was Ashley Wilson, a mother of three, who she had met at the Covington Mothers of Preschoolers group.
Wilson speaks on a variety of thought provoking topics and is also the founder and president of the non-profit Rewritten. She also began another new chapter as an Integrative health practitioner and is starting a ministry called The Dwelling Place of Wellsboro and likes to be creative and sell inspirational jewelry in her spare time.
When asked what made her have the idea for the show, Carreon said “It’s where I’m at in life. I like to learn for myself and why not share the knowledge. I’ve come to find many local resources worth sharing.”
Her own experiences as a mother of two boys has shaped how she views motherhood as well.
“Watching my boys discover things is rewarding. I like seeing them enjoying things Joe or myself enjoy, allowing us to be kids again with them. I also love when they have that ‘aha!’ moment of learning something new,” she said.
Carreon has learned to adapt her lifestyle around her boys to make sure she is the best mother possible for them every day.
“(I like) seeing their personalities and imagining where it will take them. It’s challenging balancing all the things, and definitely takes prioritizing and re-prioritizing, as well as intentionality. This isn’t something that comes easy to my ‘go with the flow personality.’ It takes much wiggle room too, what works one day may not the next,” said Carreon.
Topics on the show could range from advice, to new resources, sharing a day in the life of a local mom and more.
“I believe if you strengthen a family, you strengthen a community. I believe as resources are utilized, unity is sought after and the ‘little things’ don’t fall through the cracks everyone will rise up to life’s challenges,” said Carreon. “Imagine a place where a mom feels taken care of instead of burnt out and alone. Imagine a region of all kinds of women coming together for the sake of bettering themselves to better the future generation. That’s the goal!”
Carreon says she plans to host guests from Canton Mother’s of Preschoolers, Canton Pregnancy Care Center, and SAFE in the near future.
“The sky is the limit with how far this thing goes. If resources keep showing up I’ll keep sharing. It is a once a month broadcast. I’m airing on a Monday as it’s the start of new week, a new opportunity. Mondays can have a bad reputation as we can be spiraling off the weekend and demands of last week, but if we change our mindset on a Monday we can change our whole week,” said Carreon.
