The Canton Garden Club will meet at 1 pm on August 11 at Judy Wilcox's home in Canton. We exchange gardening tips and ideas, laugh and enjoy exploring gardening plans.
On June 1, some members of the Canton Garden Club joined the residents of Sherwood's Personal Care Home, along with the Sherwood grandchildren, to plant some flowers in pots to brighten the patios and walkways at the home. After the planting party, Sherwood's provided cookies and beverages for all to enjoy. Saturday, May 23, the Canton Garden Club will be having their annual plant sale at the Canton Farmer's Market at 8:00 until noon.
There will be a variety of plants for sale, one of the members will be bringing Hens and Chickens which are sempervivums, also, called house-leeks. When someone says they have a lily, what do think of? Do think about lilies you see at Easter time, or maybe you think of the trout lilies that are blooming in the woods in the spring. The word lilies are part of the name of numerous plants. Some of them are lily of the valley, water lily, fire lily, daylily, ginger lily, calla lily, cobra lily, leek lily, Amazon lily, lily of the Nile, Peruvian lily, etc.
Seven members of the Canton Garden Club went to Harrisburg in search of spring. We found tulips, daffodils and hyacinths at the PA Garden Expo on Friday, February 27. Those attending were Betsy Clark, Marie Harkness, Dot Hopkins, Lavonne McNett, Pauline Swingle, Judy Wilcox, and Beverly Wright.
Members of the Canton Garden Club picked a beautiful and warm Monday morning to make the barrels in downtown business area of Canton ready for the holidays, especially Small Business Saturday. Placing the greens and wooden stars in the barrel were LaVonne McNett, Dot Hopkins, Beverly Wright, and Marie Harkness. Other members also helped. |
