Canton Township opened its regular meeting at 8 p.m. Monday, May 5.
After the reading of last meetings minutes bids were read for gravel and cinders. Township supervisors ultimately voted to accept a bid from Hawlbaker’s Minier Quarry for 2RC rock at $8.45/ton and $13.65/ton delivered. Supervisors also accepted a bid from McClure Enterprise for type 1 black cinders delivered for $29/ton.
Road Foreman Bob Petrowski reported that they would soon work to fix some of the potholes on Agway Road before moving to Brague Road. Petrowski reiterated that the township is aware of complaints regarding road quality and they are working as best they can given the equipment on hand.
The Bradford County Treasurer’s Office sent a letter asking the Township to approve a Repository Sale of property formerly owned by Ray Chaapel Jr. in Grover. The Treasurer’s Office had received a $1,000 bid from a buyer based in Brooklyn, New York. Sale was approved.
In other news, retained architect Larry Foor had reached out in hopes of meeting with Township officials to go over final bid specifications for the new Township building. Supervisors hope to have him in next meeting, May 10, at 8 p.m.
