The PA Apple & Cheese Festival, located on Rt. 414 east of Canton, PA at 141 East Canton Cross Road, Canton will take place the weekend of October 3 and 4 and will provide festival attendees with a great variety of dining options. The festival features an abundance of food booths, eight of which are operated by local non-profit groups.

Fitzgerald will be speaking on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Bradford County Library in Troy,offering comments on his two published novels, The Fracking War (Mill City Press, 2014) and Fracking Justice (Mill City Press, 2015).
The title of his talk will be: “Fracking Fiction: You Can’t Make This Stuff Up.” Leslie Wizelman, Certified Elder Law Attorney, is proud to announce the addition of Kathy Morrison RN to her staff. Mrs. Morrison will work with clients as a geriatric care coordinator, assuring that clients receive appropriate care, whether at home or at a residential facility. The Sullivan County Fall Festival will be held October 10 and 11, Columbus Day weekend. Spectators are encouraged to attend at the Sullivan County Fairground, 4430 Rt. 154, Forksville The excitement begins Saturday with men and women competing in ax throwing, log rolling, men’s crosscut, Jack & Jill Crosscut, separate underhand chop for both men and women, the bow saw, the popular stock saw and hot saw competitions. Dust off the instruments, limber up the chops and crack the knuckles to join us for the Old Shoe Game on November 6. During the recently held 2015 Steamtown Music Awards which is held in Scranton, PA Esta Coda, a local band in northeast PA, with former Cantonian Jay Preston as vocalist and guitarist, was honored to receive the "Indie Rock Act of the Year" Award This is the second straight year Esta Coda has won an award and they are looking forward to many more years of success. Esta Coda's EP "Miles Away" received Album of the Year, and Preston received the award for Male Vocalist of the Year. Three young ladies will represent Canton Area Jr. Sr High School at the Outstanding Young Woman program, September 26. One lady will represent Troy Jr. Sr. High School.
The Bradford Co. Republican Committee is sponsoring its 4th annual essay contest open to all Bradford Co students in grades 4 through 12. The topic is "How Would You Define An American Hero?" Essays will be grouped into three divisions: grades 4, 5, and 6; grades 7, 8, and 9; and grades 10, 11, and 12. Winners in each division will be awarded a plaque and a $50 cash prize. Second place winners will each receive certificates and a $25 cash prize. Chris came home from school with a note describing his involvement in a fight with his best friend Will. They had a major disagreement over whose turn it was at bat and ended up in the principals office.
