Mr. Sheaffer was elected chairman and Mr. Ayres as vice-chairman.
Mrs. Morgan was reappointed as secretary-treasurer with a bond set at $250,000.
The meeting schedule for 2015 was approved.
Mr. Seachrist was appointed as Roadmaster and all the Supervisors, Bob Johnson and Bob Morgan were appointed as laborers.
Maxine Shedden was named Chairman of the Vacancy Board.
Christopher Lantz of Cox, Stokes and Lantz was appointed as Township Attorney.
Mrs. Morgan was appointed as Assessment Permit Officer and Open Records Officer.
First Citizens Community Bank was named as depository, with the safe deposit box at Chemung Canal Trust Co.
Wages were set as follows: Secretary/Treasurer, $15 per hour; Roadmaster, $14.50 per hour; laborers, $10.50 per hour.
The mileage reimbursement rate was set at 55.5¢ per mile.
Office Hours for the secretary will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
The treasurer was authorized to pay bills as they come in.
After the reorganization meeting the Supervisors held their regular January meeting with the same attendees as at the reorganization meeting.
Deputy Fire Chief George Jennings presented the 2015 contract with the Canton Fire Department. It is unchanged from 2014 and was unanimously approved.
Mr. Jennings also requested telephone numbers for the supervisors and the roadmaster to facilitate response to a local fire.
Canton Township will assist in installing a dry hydrant at the pond on the John Brown property.
In response to questions from the audience, Mr. Jennings said that calls received at the 911 office will be served by the closest department (Canton or Blossburg) or by mutual aid from Troy or Mansfield.
The minutes of the December meeting were approved with one correction and the minutes of the December 30 meeting were accepted.
The Treasurer's report was accepted. Among the receipts reported: Realty Transfer Tax, $1,540.84; District Court fines, $16.18; Earned income tax, $1,363.06; State Police fines, $524.04; Real Estate Tax, $382.96.
Bills to be paid included: $16,053 to Selective Insurance, ($12.079 for the commercial package and $3,974 for workers' compensation).
A certificate of occupancy was issued for 370 Brandy Run Lane.
The Supervisors declined an offer to participate in the Tioga County zoning map program because Ward Township does not have zoning.
Mr. Tompkins and Mr. Ayres participated in a telephone floodplain conference. It was requested that the township's 2010 Floodplain Ordinance be submitted for updating. This is expected to result in large increases in premiums for those persons requiring flood insurance.
The township responded to a Right-To-Know request for information on township ordinances relating to extraction, production or storage of natural gas or other minerals. The township has no such ordinances.
Mr. Sheaffer attended the Watershed meeting on December 15 and reported that the limestone application is not effective and a treatment plant will be built. An excavation is being done on Welch Mountain for acid mine drainage investigation.
Mr. Seachrist plans to enter his "ditcher" invention in the PennDOT,"Build a Better Mousetrap" competition.
The resignation of Maxine Shedden as Tax Collector was accepted with much regret.
Under the Road Report, Mr. Seachrist said the roads were cindered seven times and plowed twice. Chains were installed on the grader, and the steps removed from the grader.
Additional 1B stone was ordered.
Mr. Tompkins is forming a committee on Crisis Communication. Mrs. Tompkins is working on a Facebook page for the township. She is seeking suggestions as to content.
The audit through October 7 was completed. No problems were found.
A resolution was adopted appointed Tioga County as tax collector.
A comment was received from a resident that the roads were not properly cared for due to ice.
