During his report, Roadmaster Seachrist reported mutiple grading projects on Mile Hill Road, Gleason Road, Lower Mountain Road, Welch Mountain Road and Mountain Ridge.
He also went on to report cleaned ditches on Church Road, putting shale over sluice pipes on Lower Mountain Road, Gleason Road, River Road, Rundell Creek, and Church Road. He put polyseal on Lower Mountain Road, put in six sluice pipes on Rundell Creek Road, worked on his 2021 budget and ordered supplies for winter. Finally, he reported his completion of 2020 mowing.
The secretary’s report included an appreciation letter from a township resident. She also reported updated information on the new township building, stating that DGR Excavating has completed “phase 3” of the construction project and has begun the salt storage shed project at the equipment building.
She reported an ACT 13 CD (a certificate of deposit) investment has matured on Sept. 17, with interested received at $14,814.80. A CD is a low-risk savings tool that can boost the amount you earn in interest while keeping your money invested in a relatively safe way. Like savings accounts, CDs are considered low risk because they are FDIC-insured up to $250,000.
Supervisors made a motion to review the current investment rates and decide to re-invest the ACT 13 funds into CD investments.
Canton Fire Company Representative Ray Powley reported that he and Supervisor Morris will attend a fireman’s Banquet on Nov. 14.
Supervisors also made a motion to donate $100 to both the Green Free Library and Blossburg Memorial Library in memory of John Shaffer.
Supervisors received the completed appraisal on the existing township property parcel.
During public comment, there was an inquiry on DCNR transfer of Old Possessions Road back to the township and the review of core samples taken from Lower Mountain Road.
