Louise Williams gave a brief introduction of her grandson, Attorney Evan Williams III, who is running for Judge of Bradford County in the upcoming May 19th elections. Evan shared with members why he is running for Judge, what he wants to accomplish as judge, and why he feels it is the right thing to do. A round of applause was given and all appreciated Mr. Williams’ comments.
President Sheila Wilcox then introduced Sarah Murray, owner of Rhythms and Blooms flower shop in Troy. Sarah shared how she was contacted by the previous owner, agreed to the offer, and opened for business the very next day in late October 2014. The shop’s floral designer, Chrissi Stanton, demonstrated how to arrange a small basket of flowers. A drawing took place and the arrangement was won by Fran Gardiner.
Sarah shared that they do arrangements of all kinds from a bud vase to large arrangements, funeral sprays, wedding flowers, dish gardens, corsages, boutonnieres—anything you would need in the way of flowers. They rent tuxedos as well. They also offer long distance flower orders for those living far away. The club members thanked Sarah and Chrissi for their presentation with a round of applause.
President Sheila Wilcox opened the meeting with club members reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and the Lord’s Prayer. The minutes of the March meeting were read and approved as was the treasurer’s report.
Letters of recommendations for nominations of new members were read by Fran Gardiner. Ballots were distributed and elections were held. Three new members will be announced at the next meeting.
Pat Yearick, Town Beautification and Caring and Sharing chairperson, thanked Linda Nickerson’s husband, Al, for removing the old winter decorations from the bridge plant holders. She also shared there were four April birthdays. Get well cards and thinking of you cards were sent to members. Doris Saxton and Doris Wheeland were congratulated on the recent births of their new great-grandchildren.
President Sheila Wilcox thanked the committee for their delicious refreshments and table decorations. The next meeting will be held on May 21st at the Troy Presbyterian Church with Bill Brasington presenting, “Conrad Weiser”.
