Gene Wilston his men installed and completed the steel work in the back section of the barn. The barn structure is now stronger than the day it was built. Gene and his crew, along with Bill Brasington, Steve Robbins and Harry Davis managed to erect the steel in three days. Gene was impressed with the work that the volunteers had done in preparation for the steel. With the work at the Troy Sale Barn progressing so well, we are planning another open house, on April 23, 2015, to show what work has been done. Along with this open house, the Bradford County Commissioners, who have supported the efforts to save the barn, will be holding their April meeting at 10 a.m., in the barn. The Troy Historical Society will again give personal tours of the barn, starting at 9 a.m., food will be available for those attending. The next stage of development will be to pour a concrete floor; add two bathrooms and a kitchen to the back part of the barn. When this work is finished the back part of the barn will be opened officially for community events. Although donations have been steadily coming in, we still need your donations to reach our goal of giving a new life to the sale barn and having a home for the Troy Historical Society and a community center. Once this is accomplished the barn will be an asset to Bradford County tourism. |
