TROY — Troy Fire Department (Oscoluwa Engine & Hose Company) held its annual banquet. This year was special because they were not able to have it last year due to Covid. So, the department combined two years of awards into one.
After training certificates and perfect attendance awards were handed out, service awards were given to members with significant years under their belts. This included a service award given to a wife of a recently deceased firefighter, in honor of him.
Notably, Ralph Knapp was awarded a 50 years of service award from the department, as well as a citation from Rep. Clint Owlett.
Perfect meeting attendance in 2020 went to: Keith Ayres, Dakota Mulhollen, Ken Parmenter, LouAnn Vargson, Roy Vargson and Ryan Vargson.
In 2021, perfect meeting attendance went to: Keith Ayers, Larry Hall, Ken Parmenter, LouAnn Vargson, Roy Vargson and Ryan Vargson.
After service awards was active service certificates and a memorial service for three members who had passed away in the last year.
For most points awarded, Walter Dixon received the award for 2020 with 614 points collected. Roy Vargson received the 2021 award with 501 points. Points are collected in a system in which members attend meetings, calls and more.
For the Auxilary Report, Priscilla Knapp noted that the Auxiliary will dissolve due to lack of membership, but the current members will continue to support the fire department by being social members.
During the Chief’s Report, Roy Vargson noted a special award that was given to Jamey Hoose, who received special recognition from the chief for helping his neighbors in a time of need, specifically, when they were trapped on an upper balcony while their home was on fire.
The Dan Paris Award was given to Joe Aubry and Matt Thomas.
Fire members of the year went to Ken Parmenter (2020) and Blair Kinsman (2021).
Firefighters of the year went to Thad Dibble and Ryan Vargson.
Chaplain Priscilla Knapp closed the ceremony with a benediction and prayer. Dancing took place after the ceremony thanks to DJB Entertainment.
2022 company line officers include: Roy Vargson Chief, Alan Painter 1st Assistant Chief, Ryan Vargson 2nd Assistant Chief, Keith Ayres Captain 1, Thad Dibble Captain 2, Mark Steckiel Captain 3, Scott Cummings Captain 4.
2022 civil officers include: Ben Krise President, LouAnn Vargson Secretary, Priscilla Knapp Chaplain, Larry Hall Vice President and Marshall McNeal Treasurer.
2022 directors include: Thad Dibble, Keith Ayers, Ralph Knapp, Roy Vargson, Roger Bellows, Alan Painter, Marshall McNeal, Blair Kinsman, Ryan Vargson, LouAnn Vargson and Ben Krise.
2022 fire police include: Ken Parmenter Captain, Larry Hall Lieutenant 1, Blair Kinsman Lieutenant 2, Jason Salle, Roger Bellows, Sean Esaias, Dakota Mulhollen.
2022 fireman’s relief association officers include: Ben Krise, Mark Steckiel, LouAnn Vargson, Jessica Fritsch.
