TROY — The Troy Chamber of Commerce met at noon at Building No. 9 Grill in Troy on Wednesday, June 2.
Committees
The next meeting at Alparon Park was discussed, with the group deciding to invite Canton’s Chamber of Commerce for a picnic at Alparon Park after work hours. Robyn will also reach out to Gannon Associates to see about insurance for the event, which will also be a “BYOB” event.
Veronica said there are five slots (now four) available left for the car show this year, for volunteers to sign up. See Veronica for available days.
Membership was briefly discussed, with Zach encouraging chamber members to ask around to those who are not currently members to see if they are interested in joining. Application forms have been emailed to each chamber member that they may use to give to a neighboring business who is not already a chamber member. There are currently 80 Troy Chamber members.
Tourism Agency
The second set of panels are planned to be done within the next week. Robyn announced that the third set is set for Troy in July.

Lions Club
The Lions Club participated in their annual Adopt a Highway program, between East Troy and West Burlington. They are also working on a walkway project by the Dandy in Troy, with permanent lighting. On Friday, June 25, the Lions Club will have a golf tournament.
Troy Sale Barn

Other announcements
The library will begin their summer reading program soon. Kicking off on Wednesday, June 16, they will offer two age levels of programs: preschool-2nd grade and 3rd grade thru 6th. Wednesdays are for the younger kids offering a story time and then a craft activity. Thursdays are for the older kids. Both sessions are from 10-11 a.m. and we encourage parents/grandparents to stay and participate with the children. These weekly programs will continue through the summer until Aug. 12. We will also be offering children the opportunity to win prizes by keeping track of their summer reading activity. Contact Lynn or Steve at the Library for more information: 570-297-2745; or e-mail Steve at sbolt@piercelibrary.org.
Issac Gates said the Cub Scouts are planning camp, where they will camp, go fishing, swim, archery and more, in Towanda. He also noted that they recently went to Penn’s Cave for a trip. He also said that the Cub Scouts participated in the Memorial Day parade in Troy on May 31.
Speaker ideas were discussed, with the possibility to reach out to either Rep. Fred Keller, Rep. Clint Owlett and PA State Treasurer Stacy Garrity.
Another topic of discussion was a “Welcome to Troy” sign outside of the borough towards Sylvania and if the chamber should help take care of it or move it. They would most likely need to either work with PennDOT to get the necessary permitting or move the sign, per the OK with the property owners.
A question on the garden club was brought up and discussed how they organized their group.
Finally, the group discussed the change in manufacturing in the area and country, as well as how to help Troy businesses hire and keep reliable employees.
The Troy Fair asked Chamber for sponsorship. Robyn motioned to give them $500, with Trisha seconding the motion.
The next Troy Chamber of Commerce meeting will be Wednesday, July 7, at 5 p.m. at Alparon Park at the pavilion. For more information, go to www.troychamberofcommerce.com.
