Seventeen members of the Troy Fine Arts Council and two guests met on Tuesday, October 13 at the First Presbyterian Church of Troy. President Melody Lewis called the meeting to order shortly after 10:30 A.M. |
President Melody Lewis informed the club about an invitation to display our art in the gallery at the Ben Franklin store in Towanda during November. Members were given the opportunity to sign up to participate. Any members who were not at the meeting and who would be interested in knowing more about this opportunity may contact Melody by calling 570-596-3425 or emailing her at malewis@npacc.net.
Arlene Harkness, Bonnie Bell, Lisa Darrow, Theresa McKerrow, Aurora Hulslander, and Erwin Brown presented paintings as candidates for this year’s FACT Christmas card. The winning picture was a lovely poinsettia painted by Lisa Darrow.
Melody Lewis shared some recent work, including experiments in the technique of using alcohol based inks presented at last month’s meeting and a charcoal sketch of an Indian elephant.
The meeting ended with a fascinating demonstration by artist Brad Krise, showing us some watercolor techniques he uses for blending colors on paper as he paints. Brad’s use of wet-on-wet painting achieves a subtle blending of light and shade. His practice is to paint flowers one petal at a time.
The November 10 meeting will be our annual Christmas Party at Grace’s Chinese Buffet in Athens. We will meet there at 11:15 A.M. There will be a brief business meeting to elect officers for the coming year and deal with any last minute needs of the club before we settle down to enjoying a delicious meal. Anyone interested in participating in the gift exchange is welcome to bring a gift costing no more than $10.
