LEROY — LeRoy Township Supervisors answered questions for the public at their June 7 meeting in the Community Association building.
One complaint concerned a hole by the guard rails on LeRoy Mountain Road, which supervisors addressed and said they knew about it and were working on it.
Another resident asked for bags of calcium to work on a project on his property. He plans to do the work himself, but wanted the calcium. He also noted to supervisors his opinion of Mountain Road not being in good condition and told them it would be a waste to taxpayers if they planned to oil it.
Another resident bought oil for his property but the oil was not put down. Supervisor Ted Tomlinson noted that he will check with the driver and make sure that resident receives the oil he paid for.
Another resident asked if they were planning to put oil down on roads, which has already been done and planned to do it earlier this year.
Other news
Supervisors noted that the backhoe caught on fire and that they hope to be able to save it with minor damage to the equipment.
A&A Country Market owners Billy Watts and Niki Castle addressed the supervisors, and wanted to let them know that they plan to go through the necessary process to sell beer and wine in their store. They need 73 votes in November and wanted to inform the public of their intentions.
Supervisors received one bid for aggregate on Bonney Road. The bid was from Shunk at $16/ton, with a total cost of $79,985. Supervisors unanimously approved the bid.
Secretary Ted Tomlinson reported that LeRoy did not make “this year’s cut” for the 2021 Dirt & Gravel project funding, but based on the priority list he was given, he expects Dodge City Road to be on the list for next year for projects.
Tomlinson also noted that he has not been able to find black cinders to bulk up the amount the township has, in preparation for winter months. Because of the quality of the cinder that was available, he recommended to hold off for the better cinders.
Jeff Pepper from Watson Diesel spoke to the supervisors about the possibility of upgrading a work truck, specifically the 2011 F-550. Supervisors did not make a decision at the time of the meeting, but will take a look at the information Pepper provided to them. Because Mike Miosi (the third supervisor) was not present at the meeting, they decided not to make a decision.
For the Council of Governments report, Jason Krise noted that Northern Tier Solid Waste plans to do an electronic recycling event on Wednesdays.
The next LeRoy Township Supervisors meeting will be Monday, June 12.
Note: The LeRoy Community Associations’ event ‘LeRoy Old Home Days’ celebration will be Saturday, July 3.
