CANTON — There were two items on the agenda for the special meeting of the Canton Township on Jan. 18.
The first was Michelle Holton, who lives on the edge of Canton Borough near Springbrook Creek. Holton has been talking with the Borough and Bradford County Conservation District in hopes of altering the flow of Springbrook away from her home.
Holton claimed Springbrook jumped its banks years ago and has been close to contaminating her well. Holton was asking the Township to help her fill out grant applications to Pennsylvania Growing Greener for the project.
Township Secretary Elnor Blaney committed to calling Bradford County Conservation District to see if Springbrook Creek would be covered by the Towanda Creek Watershed.
Next up was Jeff Pepper from Watson Diesel. Pepper brought invoices with the price of a new cinder truck for the township.
The current cinder truck had its EGR sensor go out which caused a blown head gasket. The projected price of the new truck is $83,865. The township hopes to trade in the old truck to put towards the new truck. Pepper said he could get an appraisal of the current trucks value this week. If Watson Diesel doesn’t give a satisfactory offer for the old truck it will be advertised and sold separately from the new truck purchase.
The next regularly scheduled Township Meeting is Feb. 1, at 8 p.m. in the township building.
