The 49th Annual Tioga County Fair is packed with lots of entertainment, displays, exhibits, and of course tantalizing food for everyone, but special days have been set aside to focus on senior citizens and kids.
This year, Senior Citizen’s Day at the Fair has moved to Tuesday, Aug. 11. Those 62 or older can enter the fairgrounds for free until 5 p.m. Free Events for the day include Barney Wilkins & the Penn Dixie Band performing at 11:00 a.m. and 2 p.m., Big Tiny Young singing along with his sound machine at 4:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Sunset Ice Cream sponsors stage hypnotist Michael Blaine who will transform willing participants into Elvis, Lady Gaga, and more at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
Patsy Cline tribute artist Penny Eckman will perform her Penny Sings Patsy show at 6:30 and 9:00 p.m. Livestock shows, also free for spectators, feature Goat Showmanship at 10:00 a.m. and the Open & Junior Goat Show (non-dairy) at 12:30 p.m. Chicken barbecue will be available at 11:30 p.m. and excitement on the track is set with the 4wd/Semi Truck Pull at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 12, Family Day features free admission for 11 years and under until 5 p.m. with $3.00 for unlimited amusement rides for children 36 inches and over. Amusement rides open at noon, are closed at 5:00, and reopen at 6:00 p.m.
Beginning at 10:00 a.m. and lasting throughout the day, various free activities for children will be coordinated by Bradford-Tioga Head Start, Inc., and sponsored by Dr. Skip Clark & Wellsboro Pediatrics, First Citizens Community Bank, and Esbern Dairy Farms. Free entertainment offered for all ages include the 4-H and FFA Dairy Show at 8:45 a.m., the Jr. Sheep Blocking Contest at 3:30 p.m., and a giant banana split at 5:30 p.m. Free stage shows include Big Tiny Young singing at 4:30, 7:30 and 9:00 p.m. and hypnotist Michael Blaine, sponsored by Sunset Ice Cream, performing at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. For those interested in bidding, an array of items will be offered up at the 4-H Silent Auction in the 4-H Building. For those looking for a bit more excitement, the track will roar at 7:00 p.m. with the Tractor Pull.
Tickets for the Truck and Tractor Pulls can be purchased online only via the Fair’s website, TiogaCountyFair.com for $7 per person until July 31st. PayPal and major credit cards accepted. No PayPal account needed to purchase tickets. Children 36 inches and under are free!
