TROY — New this year, the Troy Sale Barn will host a weekly Grower’s Market at their location at 50 Ballard Street.
Every Tuesday from 3:30-6:30 p.m., beginning May 31, the Sale Barn will host local farms and arts until Oct. 25. These dates were picked to be in conjunction with the Car Show held every Tuesday at First Citizens Community Bank.
“We have always wanted to do a Grower’s Market to showcase our local food and arts! We are thankful that Linda Sweely, New View Farms from Roseville, who has volunteered to coordinate the market for us,” said Nicole Harris.
Vendors must be the growers and producers of at least 80 percent of the fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, eggs, baked goods, jams/jellies, maple products, honey, dairy products and other approved high quality craft items they intend to sell. All home-made products and handcrafted items are to be made by the vendor. Craft items should be of juried quality and will be subject to review by the TSB board. Vendors should live within 50 miles of Troy.
Vendors will set up in the Sale Barn in a 10x10 foot space and are responsible for their own tables and chairs and all necessary items to run their booth. They are expected to keep their area clean. Outside spaces are available as well.
All produce and products, sold at the market, must be grown or produced by the vendor or other PA farms within close proximity to the vendor’s farm. Items, grown by other local farmers, cannot represent more than 20% of the vendor’s display. Vendors cannot sell produce or items purchased at wholesale or at auction for resale at the Troy Sale Barn Grower’s Market. Any vendors producing baked goods or other prepared foods must possess a license from the Dept. of Agriculture and follow all packaging and labeling regulations as dictated by that agency. All vendors must follow all local, state and federal guidelines for their particular product lines.
“The Growers Market will be hosted inside the Sale Barn, so getting patrons to see what the barn has to offer and to see that it can be the perfect place to host your next event! This coincides with the Troy Town Cruisers Car Show so we hope to have lots of people in town that evening enjoying Troy,” said Harris.
