During the weekly meeting of the Troy Rotary Club, one of the most important items on the agenda was the awarding of the Tink Crandall Sportsmanship award. This year the winner was Ryder Lathrop from Millerton. Ryder is a seventh grade student in the Troy School District. Presenting the award was Rob Storch, chairman of the commmittee. He gave a brief biography of Mr. Crandall, noting that he was heavily involved in the sports community and loved to watch any and all sports. Mr. Storch also reminiscenced about times he and "Tink" enjoyed and how active Mr. Crandall was in the Troy Rotary. Mr. Storch gave a description of the criteria of the award: must play Little League, be chosen by team members for sportsmenship, positive attitude, leadership, and work ethic and then the coaches of the three teams in Troy votes for the winner. Ryder was a member of the Judson's team and plays first base and pitches. He was coached by Johm Imbt. Ryder's parents are proud of their son as well as this sisters Gabby and Grace. The meeting then was turned over to President of the Rotary, Preston Edsell. He spoke about the wrap up meeting he attended for the Heritage Festival. He noted that at the meeting improvements were discussed and that the committee was encouraged with the attendance. Mr. Edsell suggested that the rotary board will meet and decide if they want to continue with the Festival. He then introduced Jenn Swain, chairperson of the raffle who gave an update of the ticket sales. She noted that tickets are going fast and if you need one, you may get them from any member. She also said that ticket sales at the Homecoming Football game went well and the people were delighted to see the wonderful prizes which they can win: a tailgate grill, handmade hope chest, and wood pellets. The drawing will be held at the Old Shoe game, so it is not too late to purchase them. One member also told about a recent trip several members had taken to the Lumber Museum, which was a project for former member Marshall Case. He noted that the museum has grown and "it is a worthwhile trip." A reminder of the get together at the Storch's was announced along with an invitation for everyone to come to the next meeting for the District Governor of the Rotary will be there to speak and they would like a good attendance.
