CANTON — Canton’s very own Logan Route took first place recently at the Applause Rising Talent Showcase in Los Angeles.
“Winning first place felt so surreal and I just kept thinking about all the sacrifice and work it took to get that far,” said Route, noting that this trip was his first plane ride as well as his first trip to the West Coast.
Route made the trip out west mid-December and competed three times throughout the week to earn his top spot.
“The first round I was in a private room with three judges which were all agents including Blaze Johnson from the voice season eight,” said Route.
In the evening that day, Route again performed in front of the other contestants as well as agents from all over the country.
“Then the third round was the big Friday night talent show in front of all the participants and agents,” said Route.
The prize was the recognition and exposure to all of the agents who attended the event. Talent agents from all over the country were present.
“I almost cried because of all the sacrifices I had to make to be there and all the time and money it took to get there,” said Route.
In each Round, Route sang the song Millionaire by Chris Stapleton.
“It shows some good vocal range, but also because I feel like a millionaire being married to my wife, Steph, and even though she wasn’t in LA with me the song helped me stay connected with her,” said Route when asked why he chose that song.
Route refers to a jacket he calls his “lucky jacket” and attributes it to his success at the competition.
“This jacket is my lucky jacket! Both times I have worn it were the best days of my life. The first time I married the love of my life and now I won first place singing in a talent showcase in Los Angeles!” he says in a Facebook post announcing his success.
Applause Talent, Rising Talent Showcase, is a family-owned and operated organization that holds two shows a year, in the summer and the winter, in cities across the country. Auditions for the events are held throughout the year across the United States. The talent may include models, singers, actors or dancers. They bring managers, castings, producers and talent agents from across the globe to see the talent.
According to its website, the show is filled with three full performance days that include performances in singing and dancing, TV & film day (with monologues, television commercials, film scenes, and more), a fashion day and show, and it all ends with a talent show that highlights the best of the event.
“Thank you so much to everyone who helped me along to the way to get out here,” said Route.
Route has many upcoming shows around the area for January. To check out where he will be performing next, go to https://www.facebook.com/loganroutemusic.
