After a 3-year hiatus, Clyde Peeling’s Reptiland is pleased to announce the return of Flashlight Safari on October 23 and 24 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
This exciting Halloween event gives people a chance to explore the zoo and its nocturnal inhabitants after dark. Many animals become active at night, and Flashlight Safari provides an opportunity to witness their “secret” nighttime activities.
Special live shows at 7:00 and 8:00 teach guests about nocturnal adaptations and present fascinating animals not normally exhibited at the zoo, including a great horned owl.
Flashlight Safari also encourages visitors to get up-close and personal with a tarantula, hissing cockroaches, an alligator, and more at the interactive touch table. Reptiland’s professional zoo keepers demonstrate how an emperor scorpion glows under black light and explain why alligator eyes reflect in the beam of a flashlight.
Torches and spotlights light up Dinosaurs Come to Life and guide guests through the outdoor exhibit to experience the winged Quetzalcoatlus, feathered Citipati, an entire Tyrannosaurus rex family, and over a dozen other prehistoric creatures.
A fun, crafty activity lets children create their own festive fall scene. All attendees can commemorate the evening with silly pictures taken in a themed photo booth, and top it off with complimentary hot cocoa and a sweet treat to take home.
Admission is $12 for ages 3 through 11 and $14 for ages 12 and up. New for this year, guests can bring along a carved pumpkin to add to Reptiland’s Jack-o-Lantern Patch and take $2 off their admission. Doors open at 6:45 pm, and attendees should bring their own flashlight. For more details on this event, please visit reptiland.com.
