Bradford County Commissioners discussed three proclamations at their March 24 meeting.
The first proclamation was National Library Week for Bradford County to be named April 3-9.
A system administrator of the Bradford County Library System read the proclamation to the commissioners and public.
“Whereas today’s libraries are more about what they can do with and for their communities and not just what they have on their shelves,” said Leah Chisum.
April 5 is National Library Worker’s Day. April 6 is National Outreach Day.
“It shows the library services are not limited to the physical location,” she said.
April 7 is Take Action for Libraries Day.
“It encourages community support for libraries,” she said.
“Through this week, we encourage our residents to visit all our local libraries and see what they have to offer to help move PA forward,” she read.
With Chisum was the “Bookmobile Guru” Rosemary Wynott, Heather Manchester from Sayre Public Library Director, Towanda board member Joan Hudyncia and Karen Johnson from Towanda Public Library.
The second proclamation was proclaiming the month of April as Safe Digging Month for Bradford County.
The proclamation, read by Commissioner Doug McLinko, who noted the “811” number to call for Safe Digging, as well as an informative website: www.pa1call.org.
“Whereas the month of April 2022 recognized Pennsylvania 811 safe digging mark, the initiative sponsored by 811 Utility Notification Information Center, celebrating its 50 year of continued service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” read McLinko.
The last proclamation was for April to be named Child Abuse Awareness Month in Bradford County. The proclamation will be read on the steps of the county’s courthouse at a special service on Wednesday, April 6, from 11 a.m. to noon.
The Bradford County Library System is partnering with the Bradford County Regional Arts Council as well as Children’s House for a special conversation on Wednesday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Keystone Theatre in Towanda.

Commissioners voted to approve an agreement between Bradford County Manor and Healthcare Academy for web-based learning for an annual amount of $4,500 for two years. They also approved an agreement between the commissioners and the domestic relations department for the assistance of a licensed constable.
It was also noted that commissioners voted to add a supervising position for dispatch. Andrew Jelliff was named the new full time dispatcher supervisor.
The next Bradford County Commissioners meeting will be Thursday, April 14, at 10 a.m. at the Bradford County Courthouse.
