Pastor Bill Westbrook, who serves the Camptown Charge, is trained by the Susquehanna Annual Conference to offer a three hour class in what it means to be involved with young people in this complex modern world. Because there are situations which place young people at risk, the United Methodist Church has pledged to be a setting of safety. This involves training and the expansion of understanding given the many ways adults can interact with children in this modern day and age.
Two training sessions will be offered on June 6. The sessions are identical. From 9 am til noon, the class entitled "Safe Sanctuaries" will be offered at the East Canton UMC located on Route 414 about 3 miles east of downtown Canton. From 1:30 til 4:30 the class will be offered at the East Smilthfield UMC . Registration is preferred but not required. To register or for questions, please contact Rev. Dr. Dianne Bentley at 570-673-4656 or by email at eastcantonumc@gmail.com. Participants will be working through the book "Safe Sanctuaries" by Joy Merton and should have a copy available for their use that day. Copies will be available at the training.
