The College signed a lease agreement in the summer of 2015 to move its satellite center from a previous location at 602 Main Street, Towanda. The new center nearly quadruples the College’s space in the Northern Tier.
The Center sits on 2.1 acres of land; provides 85 parking spaces for students and employees; and includes 12 classrooms, two computer labs, a student lounge and library, and several other additions that will meet all of the educational and social needs of Lackawanna’s students.
The new 10,100-square foot center offers needed space for growth for the College. Phase 1 of the construction project was completed before the beginning of the Fall 2015 semester, and Phase 2 improvements are expected to be completed by December 2015.
Lackawanna first opened a center in Towanda in 1993. A September 2011 flood forced the College from its home in the Progress Plaza Building, and an agreement was struck with Keystone College for both institutions to create a joint educational facility at 602 Main Street.
“Lackawanna College remains committed to Towanda, Bradford County, and the Northern Tier,” Lackawanna College President Mark Volk said. “Our investment in the renovation of this facility not only provides a tremendous upgrade in services for our students but also follows Lackawanna’s long-held tradition of repurposing facilities and giving them new life.”
