She thanked Coppertree for their donation and noted that the theme this year is Timber.
Since the theme is timber, they have sent for and received four boxes of Lincoln Logs. These kits are not quite like the old ones. It seems that they lack imagination.
The baseball bat company is closing and they donated several items to the museum.

Ms. Barrett noted that the "Bessy the cow" can be rented out for all occasions and has appeared at several events around the county.
They are looking for someone to write grants for them.
They are hoping that the museum will one day be on what they call "Fam Tours". They attend conferences taking with them a wagon full of items of interest about the museum. "These are just tidbits of what you can see and we are hoping that it will peak their curiosity and they have to come and visit.
What can the museum offer to visitors? You may have a tea party, tours, get souvenirs and speakers come to your meetings to talk about the many things which are on the museum grounds.

Andy Lyon who brings the very large oxen to Farm Days, which will be held in May, said that he enjoyed the questions asked by the students. "They are very knowledgeable, I guess it is because they come from a farming community."
There are several buildings which the board would like to see moved to the museum grounds at Alparon Park:
Printers office, telegraph building, and Dr. Campbell's office, which is now located in Smithfield.
A raffle will be held to help raise the funds to move the Dr.'s office.

Then it was time to get down to business. Cleaning business that is. Ms. Barrett asked for help to clean up the museum and grounds around the buildings in preparation for opening day. Workbees are scheduled. Anyone who would like to volunteer in anyway is welcome.
Before enjoying a delicious luncheon of chili, corn bread, fruit and desserts, certificates of service were presented. The total of volunteers hours is staggering. Why not join them?
