Applicants for all twelve Scholarships must be residents of Pennsylvania and sponsored by a Federated Garden Club ex. (Heritage Garden Club). All scholarships are awarded to students who plan to further their education in Agriculture Education, Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape Architecture, Conservation, Forestry, Biology (excluding medical), Botany, Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Environmental Control, City (Rural/Urban) Planning, Wildlife Science, Land Management, and/or allied subjects.
The deadline for the applications to be received is February 1st, 2015! So applications need to get to me by January 29th, 2015.
Each scholarship awarded is a minimum of $1,000.00 and is available to High School Seniors as well as college students.
As long as academic standing ( GPA 3.0 or more) is maintained and need is apparent, a student is eligible to apply or reapply for a scholarship. Students need to submit only ONE application to apply for a scholarship.
Applications for all scholarships are obtained through contacting the Heritage Garden Club President, Barb Andrus at 570-297-3043 or from the GCFP Website www.pagardenclubs.org Current forms must be used.
THE FOLLOWING IS TO BE INCLUDED WITH ALL APPLICATIONS:
A. Official transcript of academic records including the latest grading period.
B. Completed application form and financial need form.
C. Please do not staple pages together.
D. A letter from the applicant stating special interests, backgrounds, goals, financial need, and personal commitment, etc. More than two typed pages will not be accepted.
E. Three reference letters as listed on application must be included. (Not to exceed one typed page each) No additional pages will be accepted.
F. The sponsoring Federated Garden Club President MUST sign the application.
G. The Judging Panel judge the scholarship applications using the NGC formula:
Academic—40%
Applicant’s letter--25%
List of Honors –10%
Financial Need—20%
Recommendations—5%
An additional 5 points is added for relationship to a GCFP Member.
