Involved with the Endless Mountain Music Festival for five years, this is Henty's first opportunity to play her own compositions on the Keystone Theater stage. In addition to performing solo piano, she will be joined by her professors from Mansfield University, Dr. Jeffery Jacobsen on bass and Dr. Adam Brennan on drums. Also joining the trio will be friend and vocalist Sarah Polinski from Sayre.
During last year's festival, Henty made a surprise guest appearance when she performed with stride pianist extraordinaire, Bram Wijnands, from Kansas City at the Keystone Theater.
When asked what she would play on Thursday, whether it would be jazz or classical, she said, “I am asked that question often. My response is ‘I play music that can and should be listened to, not written off because it is one genre or the other. I love the music of so many different classical composers just as much as I love big band music and tunes from the 'Great American Songbook.'
"For my concert on the 30th, most of my compositions will be ‘jazz.’ Expect to hear something beautiful and worth tapping your toes to. My hope is that the audience will enjoy my music because it's made from the heart and I enjoy sharing it.”
Tickets are $25 per person, free for children and students with ID.
